Step 2.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application. Please do not accept the trial right now. We just want to run it on demand.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.

Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process, if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Step 3.

Run ESET Online Scan

Note: You can use either Internet Explorer or Mozilla FireFox for this scan.

Vista / 7 users: You will need to to right-click on the either the IE or FF icon in the Start Menu or Quick Launch Bar on the Taskbar and select Run as Administrator from the context menu.

Please go here then click on: Posted Image

If using Mozilla Firefox you will need to download esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe when prompted then double click on it to install.
All of the following instructions work with either Internet Explorer or Mozilla FireFox.

  • Select the option YES, I accept the Terms of Use then click on: Posted Image
  • When prompted allow Add-On/Active X to install.
  • Make sure that the option Scan archives is checked.
  • Now click on Advanced Settings and select the following:
    • Scan for potentially unwanted applications
    • Scan for potentially unsafe applications
    • Enable Anti-Stealth Technology
  • Now click on: Posted Image
  • The virus signature database will begin to download. Be patient this make take some time depending on the speed of your Internet Connection.
  • When completed the Online Scan will begin automatically. The scan may take several hours.
  • Do not touch either the Mouse or keyboard during the scan otherwise it may stall.
  • When completed select Uninstall application on close, make sure you copy the logfile first!
  • Now click on: Posted Image
  • Use notepad to open the logfile located at C:\Program Files\ESET\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt.
  • Copy and paste that log as a reply to this topic.

Step 4.

Security Check
Download Security Check by screen317 from here or here.

Save it to your Desktop.
Double click SecurityCheck.exe and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.

Hi comcav,

I dont know whats going on. I opened the computer today to do the work you asked me to. I managed to do step 1 without any hickups but when i tried to download Malware, the I explorer closed down saying it wanted to restart. I am sending this message from another computer as my computer has gone back to the slow speed all over again. Please advise.
I will keep trying to do step 2 but the computer has slowed down once again.
thanks

Also go to Windows Update and perform all critical and important updates. You are on IE 7 and Vista users should be on IE 9.

Click Start >> Control Panel >> System and Security >> under Windows Update Check for Updates

Hi Comcav,

I got into geeks to go with great difficulty with my computer. I checked for updates and downloaded as you said all the updates: they include, office suite, Internet explorer 8 and Intel chipset something... The first two downloaded, the last didnt. Now the computer is running slower than I can ever imagine. I am really sad !!! I cant even read your emails that come to my inbox, as it does not open. I had browse your website to get it. What do I do ? What do I do ?

Please disable Windows Defender it is not compatible with Kaspersky as a real time tool.

  • Open Windows Defender by clicking the Start button Posted Image of the Start button, clicking All Programs, and then clicking Windows Defender.
  • Click Tools, and then click Options.
  • Under Administrator options, clear the Use Windows Defender check box, and then click Save. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Now reboot the computer and make sure Windows Defender does not come back on.

I am waiting.

Thank you for the effort comcav, I know its frustrating but I guess you know too.

Step 1.

Download Windows Repair (all in one) from this site

Install the program then run

Go to step 2 and allow it to run Disc check
Posted Image

Once that is done then go to step 3 and allow it to run SFC
Posted Image

Go to step 4 and do an ERUNT backup.

On the start repairs tab select advanced mode and click start

Select the items ticked (remove the ticks from the rest ). Also at the bottom of the screen tick Repair MSI (Windows Installer) and tick restart system when finished then click Start

Step 2.

When you are experiencing email issues, what error messages are you getting?

When I opened my computer now, It hung first so I had to reboot and start again. The Kapersky internet showed this message " Behaviour similar to PDM invader loader : DNS query allowed " ... it is back to running slowly. I remember a long time ago when I was helped by Kadah (geek) he told me that IExplorer 8 is not compatible with Vista. This is what you told me to download as an update which i Kept as pending all this time. I might be wrong please advise. I am going to do the above steps as advised and will get back to you soon.

Thanks

I ran step 1 except in Start repairs section : repair proxy settings could not be checked.
Also, when i deactivate kapersky, the computer runs very fast. Now thats something I have never seen in a long time. Hence I did all this what you asked me to do by deactivating kapersky,.

Please advise what next. thanks Allen

Hi ComCav,

I have finally done all the steps you prompted me to. I really want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me. I have a windows security message that keeps popping up, I assume its the windows defender issue. when I click on the red button on my task bar, it shows that I dont have the Malware protection and it prompts me to click the windows defender. Is it normal. I have the Kapersky running but it is slowing down the computer than without it.

Thanks, please advice.

Regards
Allen
