:help:
i am having problems heres what i know....

-my hard drive is an external Western Digital 2 TB hard drive. it was working fine until i started noticing simple things like this:

*all my folders were turned into shortcuts

*every time i open said external hard drive the virus pops up in my process manager

* i quarantined this virus with my Anti Virus program and than would not let me access the external any longer.

-what i have done:

*i have removed the virus from quarantine so that i am able to access my external

*every time i open i end the process that the virus begins

* i have cleared my computer and the external of all other viruses this is the last remaining

-my concerns:

* i cannot lose the data that i have on this external. very important works!

* i have heard that i can remove the virus and re-format the hard drive.-problem!(re- formatting the hard drive will lose all of my work)

* I do not have enough space on my computer to remove all files and folders than re-format.

-what i am capable of doing:

* i am capable of folowing any instruction on how to go into a back door of some kind and delete this virus without damaging this external or the folders in it.( just need the instruction )

please tell me u can help me. i look forward to hearing from you. thank you.

I suggest you read the 'Start Here' topic found HERE. With these self-help tools you have a high chance of fixing the problems on your own. If you are still having problems after following Step 3 of the guide, continue with Step 4 and 5 and post in the Malware Forum. If you are unable to run any programs, Please create a topic stating what you have tried so far and that you are unable to run any programs. Also, Please do NOT post the logs in this thread.

If you are still having issues after the malware expert gives you a clean bill of health, Please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).
Add a link to this topic so that malware tech can see what steps have been taken here

i did what was asked but the program stopped workin mid way thru its process. i dont need to identify the virus. i want to remove it and still be able to access my external the way it used to be.

thus identifying it and removing it which i already discussed in my previous post, doesnt solve the problem makes it so i cant access anything....

i followed the instructions that were lined out and they didnt help anything.

so please give me another option. cause im thinking this isnt as cut and dry as you are thinking

Start a topic as instructed and allow the malware staff to assist you. I cannot help in Malware issues.
