926 Dell Printer

I just got a new tower and In an attempt to hook up my printer, which seemed to work fine until I shut it down. Once I did that it did not work, unless I went to Printer spooler and did a stop start and then the printer wouild work only until I shut it down ands then back to square one. One tech says that it is an operating problem, another say it is the printer and I need a new one. I need another opinion. thanks Ed
