I'm working with a clone pc, it has an Intel board. All drivers are installed and checking properties the pc says the sound is working. It is but only if I use the front panel connection The one on the back is totally silent and the microphone and headset on the back also don't work. Do the front panel connections and back usually share; ie either both work or neither does? I want to make sure before buying a replacement sound card.

Not sure what you mean by this!
Many computers will only have the one audio connection on the MB meaning that only the outlets that are connected to it will function, the same may apply with USB ports, if we knew what the MB was it would help.

As Digerati once said to me "clear as mud now eh" :whistling:

Hi Janis
From page 64 of the MB manual http://downloadmirro...echProdSpec.pdf

NOTE

The back panel audio line out connector is designed to power headphones or amplified speakers
only. Poor audio quality occurs if passive (non-amplified) speakers are connected to this output.

Do you have a seperate power supply for the rear outputs

Go to control panel and open it and click on sound , under the play back tab, left click on the speaker icon.
Select the "Set default" for the on board audio device.
If the on board device is not selectable, reinstall the driver for the board audio device.
