OK just a piece of advice to hopefully make this right.
Blow away the partition and start completely over. Once the partition is recreated format it using NTFS BUT DO NOT DO A QUICK FORMAT
Then start the reinstall.

Ok, so I reformatted the partition using advanced options on the Win 7 DVD, however now it's stuck at "completing installation" and not progressing. Did I maybe not format properly?

Did you delete the existing partition and then recreate it?

Completing Installation may take up to a hour to complete.
If you don't know about the partitions then I doubt you deleted it and recreated a new one.

I've reformatted resulting in the same issue, and now deleted the partition, created a new partition, an reinstalled again - still the same issue, stuck at "starting windows"

Have you checked the OS disk to make sure there are no scratches or smudges on it?
Another possibility is a faulty cdrom drive.

Out of the blue I decided to go ahead and flash my BIOS. So far it's gotten me past the "starting windows" screen lock I've been experiencing. Im going to update all my drivers and install a game or 2 to see if my lockup issues are fixed there as well

So far the BIOS flash appears to have fixed my issue! I don't want to get too over-excited just yet though lol. I'll give it another day or two.

This is great news for sure. Have you been able to update all the drivers and play games with no issues?
