Hello. and thank you for any and all help with this problem.

I am running win xp home on my machine and noticed that it started to run slower when online, didnt think anything about it at first because i am diligent in cleaning my machine and keeping my anti-virus and removal tools updated.
But as it kept getting slower I booted up in safe mode and CWShredder found 2 things one was vx2.looktome I believe was its name the other was CWS.msconfig so I had it remove both and rebooted in normal mode ran it again and it didnt find anything but online is still slow and a few other little quirks are happening. So I booted into safemode again ran CWShredder again and it found the CWS.msconfig again. I have retried this several times and it continues to come back each time. I dont know what to do now. Any suggestions would be great.

Wow Thank you Trevuren for the quick reply. That is great.
Ok I have done what you said so far and here is the copy of my HJT log.
Also one of the little quirks it has started doing is saying my virus def. are out of date and I will go update them again and then shortly there after it will do it again. or on boot windows bubble wil say my anti virus isnt running and I may be at risk when it is running. This just started when I started trying to fix the other probs with the CWS.msconfig

Ok I have followed your link and read the article and I actually had already been there before posting here. But either i am not doing something right or that file it lists is not on my computer. Im sure it is something im doing wrong but I cant find it. Thank you for helping me and if you have any other suggestions or ideas on what I may be doing wrong I would appreciate it.

Yes I have ran it in normal mode but it doesnt show anything there. When I boot in safe mode it finds the CWS.msconfig and it also found the vx2.looktome had it fix both rebooted in normal mode scanned and nothing. Rebooted in safe mode scanned there was CWS.msconfig again have done this several times now. Same thing each time. So I am lost on what to do now.

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Thank you again for all the time you are giving to this for me. I will donate as soon as I am sure it safe to put anything into my computer again. Your help is well worth a donation. Part 2:

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

Also,did you at any time run Xoftspy? It was known to give a false positive on this CWS .

Here is a readup on one of your software (BulletProof Software). It is one that we don't recommend due to false positives and other reasons which are containd in the article. I would not have it on my machine.

Guess who?

After consulting with some senior personnel, it is advised that you just ignore it.

As put by one of the experts: "CWShredder is a cure, not a scanner. In fact used on a healthy machine, it can do more harm than good"

Thank you for teh info let me make sure I am clear on this. I do not need to run second step on the l2mfix. Or is it just that I am getting a false postitive on the CWS Msconfig. I have never loaded xoftspy and the bullet proof I figured out wasnt any good and removed it but obviously it is still there in some way.
