i am having problems heres what i know....

-my hard drive is an external Western Digital 2 TB hard drive. it was working fine until i started noticing simple things like this:

*all my folders were turned into shortcuts

*every time i open said external hard drive the virus pops up in my process manager

* i quarantined this virus with my Anti Virus program and than would not let me access the external any longer.

-what i have done:

*i have removed the virus from quarantine so that i am able to access my external

*every time i open i end the process that the virus begins

* i have cleared my computer and the external of all other viruses this is the last remaining

-my concerns:

* i cannot lose the data that i have on this external. very important works!

* i have heard that i can remove the virus and re-format the hard drive.-problem!(re- formatting the hard drive will lose all of my work)

* I do not have enough space on my computer to remove all files and folders than re-format.

-what i am capable of doing:

* i am capable of folowing any instruction on how to go into a back door of some kind and delete this virus without damaging this external or the folders in it.( just need the instruction )

please tell me u can help me. i look forward to hearing from you. thank you.

****** please dont tell me to download some virus crap or anything liek that my anti virus works fine it caught it and thats not the problem. so please before offering a solution just re read my problem. thank you.

the last person who tried to help just had me download a bunch of crap that didnt help and i spent a whole day removing programs.

I suggest you read the 'Start Here' topic found HERE. With these self-help tools you have a high chance of fixing the problems on your own. If you are still having problems after following Step 3 of the guide, continue with Step 4 and 5 and post in the Malware Forum. If you are unable to run any programs, Please create a topic stating what you have tried so far and that you are unable to run any programs. Also, Please do NOT post the logs in this thread.

If you are still having issues after the malware expert gives you a clean bill of health, Please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).
Add a link to this topic so that malware tech can see what steps have been taken here

I'm sorry I don't see any topic in malware for you or that has been started in the past year. Can you provide a link to your malware topic and what then I can verify your system has been declared healthy.

Are you still having problems with your issue?
It has been 9 days since your last response and I was wondering if the issue has been resolved?
