Thanks for the update will wait to hear from you.
What would be useful if it still does crash is for you to keep a record of what you are doing when it does so.

ie particular site
downloading
etc

This is crazy. It still shut down, and I was surfing Facebook!
And then I clicked on Chrome icon again, and it immediately shut down before even the homepage could load.

Then I clicked on icon again, and then it didn't shut down.

I don't see a link between any site that causes a shut down!

My Windows did not pass Genuine Test.
It's strange because I've had it reformatted only once by a dealer back home in India. I didn't expect it to not pass the test.

I cannot install MSE.

There are possibly some reasons why it will not validate. It MAY still be genuine.

GO here and run the utility as described
http://www.microsoft...validation.aspx

If it still fails note any message received.

Then using the information reported follow any procedure outlined

Also go here, click the link on item 1. , follow the procedure through.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/916247

If you then still are unable to validate or resolve the issue and depnding on how the installation was done and paid for etc, albeit in India, then Microsoft offers worldwide support of course and if you contact them, depending on what proof if any you have of the apparent SALE to you of what you believed genuine software they may well assist you
http://support.micro....com/contactus/

That all said, I regret to inform you that one of the conditions of this site is that we offer NO help with unlicensed software, ir indeed licensed software used outside of the license conditions.
I do believe that you had no idea that it would not pass genuine validation and I hope you can resolve the issue.
HOWEVER I can help no further. From our terms of use

The posting of links or references to warez or any other type of illegal software is strictly forbidden. By doing so you risk having your user account terminated without warning. We will NOT help anyone we suspect of having obtained their software or services illegally.

and may I explain that this includes YOUR situation even although it appears you believed it genuine.

We do not actually close them on GeekstoGo

I would as I said urge you to contact Microsoft if you believe you have a case to put to them.

I have initiated some checks from my side. I'll handle that issue from here on.

I meant, since you cannot proceed to help me on this thread, you may as well close the thread, since we cannot proceed on this, until the Windows issue is resolved.

Thank you so much for the efforts you have invested in trying to solve the Chrome problem.

Perhaps, once I resolve the Windows problem, this one will also get resolved.

Regards
Jolene

Hi,
I seem to be having the same problem as you. I know very little about computers which is why I am very worried. I'm thinking it may be a virus, because I had accidentally clicked on a spam email that my friend had sent me. Did you see any unusual emails in your inbox prior to this happening to you?
Thank you to anyone who can help and guide me on what my first steps to alleviating this problem should be.
Thank you!!
