How do I attach a photo in windows Live Mail ?

I recently moved from an old laptop with XP Pro and Outlook Express to a new fast one with Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail.

My problem is that WLM will not simply attach a photo file (as Outlook did) but automatically loads it in to the body of the email without any size reduction and the consequence is an email so huge that it will not send.

Can anyone explain how to make WLM attach in the "old fashioned way" ?
