SBS Server 2008 Connect Error

I have a SBS 2008 Server, and I just bought a new computer with Windows 7 professional. I was trying to connect it with the server and there is an error that comes up that says that an error occurred while checking the requirements. That part was originally working but would come up with an error at the end with a problem in the way it was trying to connect where there were 2 computers with the same name. I changes the name of the computer and now I have this problem.

Could I get some advise on this matter?

Hhhmmm interesting. Similar problem here although with SBS 2011 instead of SBS 2008. The server was decidedly not genuine and once the admin resolved this he could connect.

Other than that, the only time I've had issues joining computers with the Connect program is when Windows 7 first came out. There was an update rollup that was required to be installed on the SBS 2008 server before it would successfully allow Windows 7 machines to connect.

So in summary:

1) Make sure the SBS 2008 box is activated and genuine.
2) Make sure all updates are installed on the SBS 2008 box.
3) While you are at it, check 1) and 2) for the workstation you are trying to join also.

The problem that I see with this is that the server is a few years old, and there are four other computers that are already networked with it. I managed to get the computer to connect with the server, but now when I try to run a program off the server, there is an error that occurs where that program doesn't have permission to run the program.

Thank you for your help. The server is genuine and up to date. This was a puzzling situation for me.

OK let me see if I can understand. You say the Connect program worked and the computer is now joined to the domain, correct? And now you are having permissions issues?

Yes, but I figured out that the user that I added to the server didn't have permission for the file.
