Me and my brother are trying to play Battle for Middle Earth over LAN, him on the laptop and me on the PC. We're both using different serial keys. The PC is XP and the laptop is Windows 7.
I create a game and my brother is able to see it but when he tries to join it says "connection timed out". Does anyone know how to get this working?
The two computers are connected directly by network cable.

So you're saying there is no switches or routers involved here? A direct line from the PC to the Laptop?

It sounds like this is a firewall issue. Have you tried running it without a firewall?

Hi, thanks for the reply.
I did add exceptions for the game to both firewalls but I will try turning them off. I'll let you know how it goes.
