Power point Slide Master: How to copy/paste slides from different pres

I am trying to find a way to protect my slide master. In fact, every time I copy/paste slides from different presentations, the slide master changes (e.g, it inserts an other slide master or other slides layout, which are different from my orignal slide master template).

FYI -> when I copy paste the slides from different sources, I don't use "keep the source formatting", as I want those slides to fit with the recipient master slides

Also, I have already tried to "reuse slides". Unfortunately, the slides master changes anyway; e.g. when I reused several slides and inserted them to my current presentation -> it added few more slides within the 'slide master' with a different footer and header, which are different from my original 'slide master'. In the end I have slides with 2 kind of footer.

Could you please help me? Would you know how I can avoid this? make sure NO slides will be included or impact my 'slide master' ?

Thank you
