Function key remapped? Cant create HijackThis Log, errors

A strange thing happened with my laptop. Recently the functions for my 'fn' key and shortcuts have all changed. The icon for the volume for example are completely different and the icon for disable mousepad doesn't show up at all. I have run Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware both with no flags.

Now I have run HijackThis but I cannot create a log to upload and ask for help reading. Instead I get a pair of errors which I have attached screenshots for. On the second error, which is the small one on the right in the screenshot, I click 'yes' and it creates a blank notepad.

The only things I remember installing recently is Realplayer (which was uninstalled using Revo Uninstaller) and a Skype update. Thank you for any help!

My laptop is an Asus K52Jc running Win 7 64bit.
