Ok.

Ran that first custom scan in otl, asking me to restart, got this message again:

The file or directory C:\RECYCLER\S-1-5-21-3650238891-4050404084-1215222253-1005\Dc17.log is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility.

Problem or ignore?

I would recommend that you run chkdisc on completion - are you happy with that procedure ?

You may well have some bad sectors on your hard drive, as this is the second time we have seen it. So I would definitely recommend a chkdisc run

Just ran a chkdsk and it ran, closed, no message, I think that means it didn't find any problems?

Also ran through most of the "clean up" work from pg. 3. Updates & such. Things seem in order. I'm going to check out Java again, got the newest one installed, not sure I deleted all of the old ones. Going to go through that part again. Ran MBAM last evening, no problems discovered.

You could use Javara to ensure all the old ones have gone

Okay, it is telling me I have the latest Java. Also ran chkdsk and it ran, then closed. Also ran Windows updates, MBAM scan, and all the FileHippo updates.

Think that was all.

Should I let it run for 24 hours then check back? Or, are we done and I should just run updates, etc. weekly?

Thanks for all your help with this!

Java looks to be up-to-date.

I also ran FileHippo & MBAM today. Installed updates, no viruses detect. Seems to be functioning alright.

Thanks for all the help with this!
