Sorry for the delay, I havn't had a BSOD for over two weeks now which I suppose is good news. I ran the event viewer as Happyrock suggested but was unable to locate the Wininit file/log but was unable to find any items with this heading, the only items there are Winlogon and WindowsSearchService, am I doing something wrong or is the file/log missing?

The log was probably purged by the OS. Great to hear you are not having any further BSOD's but I would suggest watching the hard drive for any failure. If you start seeing Smart Drive errors then you need to replace the drive ASAP to stop from losing any data.
With that I would like to say Congratulations Saltash. for a successful resolution for your issue.

I'm glad we could help and please let us know how everything works out for you.
