Hi,
I am running Trend Micro Internet Security, Spybot, Spywareblaster, Spyware guard, Adaware plus. All are updated and have turned up nothing. Housecall scanned pc..found nothing.
Problems... can't access email, computer slow and freezing up, this error message appears......

C:\DOCUM~1JULIEJ~1\LOCALS~1\temp\WERD9.tmp.diroo\iexplore.exe.mdmp aand below that the same as above but with different ending....\appcompat.txt.
I ran hijack this yesterday. Maybe that's a good place to start, although I'm not sure how to attach it????

Not sure what the problem is or what to do about it.
THanks so much for your time.

Click the HijackThis Guide, download it and follow the instructions in the guide.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

Your log is clean thanks to your antispyware efforts. You do need to fix three dummy entries. Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (disabled by BHODemon)
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\msjava.dll (file missing)

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log, and let us know how your system's working. <_<

Congratulations! Your system is CLEAN <_<

How do you prevent spyware from being installed again? We strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster (it's free for personal use).

Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Consumes no system resources.

Download, run, check for updates, download updates, select all, protect against checked. All done. Check for updates every couple of weeks. If you have any errors running the program like a missing file see the link at the bottom of the javacool page.
Link to SpywareBlaster: http://www.geekstogo...tion=show&id=12

It's also very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks. Click Here to make sure that you have the latest patches for Windows.

It's okay to delete the Hijack This folder in a couple weeks if everything is working okay.

If you ever get tired of paying for antivirus, AVG offers a great free prgoram:
http://free.grisoft....us/doc/2/tpl/v5

Also, make sure your Windows Firewall is turned on. To do this:

1. Go to "Start", then "Control Panel"
2. Click on "Network and Internet Connections", then "Network Connections" at the bottom
3. Right-click on your internet connection and choose "Properties"
4. Click the "Advanced" tab and make sure "Protect my computer..." is checked
5. Hit "OK" and you will now be protected from hackers

These next two steps are optional, but will provide the greatest protection.
1. Use ANY browser besides Internet Explorer, almost every exploit is crafted to take advantage of an IE weakness. We usually recommend Firefox.
2. Install Sun's Java. It's much more secure than Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine .

After doing all these, your system will be thoroughly protected from future threats. :D

P.S. You can do some additonal cleaning to speed up your computer. Just fix the following you don't want in HJT:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UpdateManager] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Sonic\Update Manager\sgtray.exe" /r Sonic Tray Icon
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RealTray] C:\Program Files\Real\RealPlayer\RealPlay.exe SYSTEMBOOTHIDEPLAYER Realplayer Tray Icon
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime Quicktime Tray Icon
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MMTray] C:\Program Files\MUSICMATCH\MUSICMATCH Jukebox\mm_tray.exe Musicmatch Tray Icon
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MoneyAgent] "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money\System\mnyexpr.exe" <- This is the Microsoft Money express system tray icon. It is used by Microsoft Money to remind you of bills, etc while not within money. May be annonying to some.
O4 - Global Startup: America Online 9.0 Tray Icon.lnk = C:\Program Files\America Online 9.0\aoltray.exe Fix if you do NOT use AOL
O9 - Extra button: Real.com - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\Shdocvw.dll <- Fix if you do not want the Real button in your Internet Explorer browser

Everything seems to be working fine....thanks so much for the help. Its nice to know you guys are available to fight the internet terrorists.

Couple questions about your suggestions..
1. If I turn on the Windows Firewall....does that interfere with my current firewall program? (Trend Micro)

2. What exactly is Sun's Java; I don't even know what Microsofts Java Virtual Machine is...Do I need it?

3. How do I go about blocking cookies?

Is there a forum that can help make sure all my firewall, AV, etc....programs are set correctly. I feel like I need a PhD to understand some of the lingo.

Thanks again....Where do I donate?

usually it shouldnt interfere with your other firewall if its the windows one

sun java helps you look at alot of websites that use kinda advanced webpage stuff so you can see them- its highly recommended that you have it on your computer to view these websites

to block cookies go to your tools- internet options- privacy and choose the best setting right for you

what settings you got- we can look at them right here on this topic

at the bottom of my signature there should be a donate link- just follow the instructions Thank You Very Much, it is greatly appritiated <_<

Okay....here are my questions.

1. Should I uninstall Microsoft Java before I install Sun's Java?
2. In Adaware SE Plus....Are there specifics my settings should be set to for the best results? There is also advanced settings and the tweak settings? Also, how do I know when to accept or block something that pops up by Ad-watch? I am so paraniod about accepting anything.....I did that before thinking I knew what it was and ended up with a mess of trouble, because I basically let the adware/spyware right onto my computer.
3. My Trend Micro Firewall Log (I looked at it out of curiosity) had about 400 attacks per day almost every day. Is that normal? Should I or is there anything I can do about it?
4. Do I need CWShredder loaded on my computer?
5. I downloaded and am using Firefox instead of IE. Anything I need to know (as far as security goes)

Anything other pertinent info you want to throw my way is greatly appreciated!

1. Yes uninstall before installing Sun
2. Be sure to keep it updated and do weekly scans using the "full scan" option. SpywareBlaster should protected from virtually all spyware/adware
3. Those attacks are most likely pings from you ISP, harmless
4. No
5. Firefox, most secure browser around. Forget about those IE security holes. You just need IE for windowsupdate.com to get the latest critical security patches for Windows. You will need to reload the plug-ins you used with IE. For more information see here (under "Browser Plug-ins, Add-ons, and Toolbars"):
