Use this at your own risk, but it does appear to work and is free if the password is 4 characters or less.

I've also had luck with a company called Passware.
As far as I know, though, there isn't a way to do it within Access. If it's worth a bit of money (like $20 - 30) then you're all set.

I use Passware at work. Wasn't aware there was anything illegal about it. If I'm told differently I'll edit my old post out.

im just saying what happens if say someone stole a databse, (fro watever reason) u just helped someone get into it and thereby u are helping steal information

Howdy all:
This is one of those "darn if you do, darn if you don't" problems.. There is no way to verify this is indeed the askers file thus making the password help request legit or someone just trying to get into a password-protected database..
When in doubt, you may be better served contacting a Global Mod and letting them have a look at it..

Actually, I already knew that there is not an official way, but I dont' like to keep cheat sheets of passwords around and occasionally I forget what I used, even if I know it's just a stupid file that's not really important. I'm not looking at doing anything illegal, so it's not really a big deal. I have the original data and can convert it back to a database.
