Step 4.

Click Start >> Right click Computer >> Select Properties >> Device Manager

In device manager try disabling then reenabling your camera.

Then try Skype again.

Did this help?

I haven't gotten to it yet; but I'll be able to shortly. I'll get back to you about it in a few!

Alright, tried doing that. I disabled it and was prompted to restart, which I did. It stills shows the option to disable and none to enable - I think it didn't actually disable it. Any ideas?

That is what it does. It enables on restart.

Step 1.

Windows Update (Win 7)

Click Start >> Control Panel >> System and Security >> Under Windows Update click Check for updates >> Check for updates

Install any updates you have, especially 3rd party drivers if available.

Retry camera if there were any installs. If it still does not work go on to next step, if not stop and post results.

Step 2.

Update Drivers

So first lets update all your drivers

Download and install DriverMax
Please do not let it install the AVG toolbar during the install

The free version allows two free downloads per day so that should suffice

When the program opens then select driver update

You will be taken to a web page

Please post the address of the page and I will determine which would be the best drivers to download

Updating windows didn't help. I'm a bit confused about what to do for step 2 - when I click driver update, I get a list of ~30 elements of hardware and I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be getting the link from.

The link is the address in your web browser. Just copy and paste it in the reply.

But it isn't taking me to my web browser - it changes what the program displays and shows all the hardware devices on my computer, each with a "check for drivers" beside it. I'm not quite sure what to do from there, if that's where I should be at all. Sorry for the confusion!

OK let's take screen shots and post them.

How to Get a Screenshot

To do a screenshot please have click on your Print Screen on your keyboard. It is normally the key above your number pad between the F12 key and the Scroll Lock key
Now go to Start and then to All Programs
Scroll to Accessories and then click on Paint
In the Empty White Area click and hold the CTRL key and then click the V
Go to the File option at the top and click on Save as
Save as file type JPEG and save it to your Desktop

Attach it to your next reply

Sorry about the delay!

It looks like this all the way down - there may just be an option I'm overlooking, because Iclicked the large "scan for drivers" button as there's nothing else that matches quite perfectly.

You took the first screen shot perfectly.

  • Now open up DriverMax again just like you have it in the picture above.
  • On the right hand side click the slide bar to show the next 5 drivers
  • With the next 5 drivers showing take another screenshot and post it.
  • Then click the side slide bar to show the last 4 drivers.
  • With the last 4 drivers showing take another screenshot and post it.

Sorry about that delay! Finals week at college is coming up, and I've been pretty busy. Here're the screens:

Ahhhhh finals, I hope you are taking care of yourself and getting some sleep!!

Step 1.

Here are the two drivers I would like you to download using DriverMax and install first:

USB2.0 UVC 2M WebCam

Fresco Logic xHCI(USB3) Controller FL1000 Series

See if these two fix the issue after a reboot.

Step 2.

You have a nVidia video card that needs updating. Go here to use the autodetect and download and install the update for your video drivers.

After all of these please give me an update.

No difference on the camera in skype, and the nvidia updater told me I was up to date.

You have a limit on how many of the drivers that have an X on them that you can update two each day. Please try to update all of them with an X over the next several days.

We have several services throwing errors on startup.

Step 1.

We are having language pack errors with Windows Live.

Please uninstall:

Windows Live 照片库
Windows Live 软件包
適用遠端連線的 Windows Live Mesh ActiveX 控制項
用于远程连接的 Windows Live Mesh ActiveX 控件(简体中文)
Windows Live UX Platform Language Pack
Messenger 浏览器插件
Messenger 分享元件
Windows Live 影像中心
Windows Live 程式集

Then reboot and try the camera again and update me on status.
