Out of the blue, my copy of OUTLOOK 2010 decided not to send emails sending me this message:

Task '[email protected] - Sending' reported error (0x8004010F) : 'Outlook data file cannot be accessed.'

Win7 is my O/S and this copy has been working since June 2011 since I got the laptop..Its a Toshiba Satellite...how do I fix this?

(I've tested my gmail and its working fine so the problem must lie within OUTLOOK?)

Hi Certifiably Blonde,

Sorry for the delay.

This usually occurs when the Outlook Profile is configured incorrectly. Instead of me providing the instructions on how to correct this issue I'll provide the Microsoft link that explains in detail. Let us know if it helps or not. One of the other members may know a solution if it doesn't.

Outlook 2010 error: 0x8004010F : 'Outlook data file cannot be accessed.'

Well...it's not going well. I seem to have the current pst file in place (there were 7 of em????)after losing it all; but my calendar & contact list is empty :( AND the outlook data file still can't be accessed to send any mail. So much for MS support!

HELP!!! (With just having moved, I need my OUTLOOK)

I'm not a big fan of Windows based mail. This is why I prefer web based mail. Less hassle.

See if the info in this link helps at all. At the very bottom under the initial tutorial you'll find Related Tutorials and a link on how to back up the .pst files.

In the meantime, maybe one of the other members who are more experienced with Outlook will happen along with a solution.

Thanks for your efforts Donna.

I had a friend of mine's hubby who is an experienced IT guy remote in and look. Cant seem to find where my contacts & calendar entries got off to after two nights of scavenging through. I felt bad tying up his time so just asked to restore my OUTLOOK and I'll try to rebuild my contacts and calendar. This time I will keep a paper copy. OUTLOOK is a pain! but its soooo convenient when it works well. I will be burning the multiple pst files we located and he will go through to see what the heck happened to my info at his leisure. Life is seriously busy for both of us and after about 6 hours of attacking outlook, this seems like the most viable solution although im sure my friends geek hubby is miffed at what seems like giving up...COMPUTERS (& their programs)! Pfft! great when they work...otherwise...NOT!
