I bought a used computer for a friend (Win 98). I have it all ready to go, except the previous owner's name is listed as the registered user (when I right click on "My Computer" and go to "Properties"). It's not that big a deal, but I think there is a way to change this and I can't remember how. I would appreciate any help you can give!

Howdy and welcome to G2G:

A search brought up this..

To change the registered owner of Windows95/98, do the following:

1) Click Start, Run
2) Type regedit, click OK
3) Click the + sign next to the following: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows
4) Click CurrentVersion
5) Double-click Registered Owner in the right window
6) Type in the new name and click OK
