On my dual core computer running up to date XP and IE8, the computer slows or hangs. Task Mgr shows 1 or 2 iexplore.exe processes with each using 50% core. I am unable to determine exactly what causes the processes to launch. I often see them after using IE and closing it. The problem began 3 days ago and happens so often as to render the machine unusable. I can manually end the iexplore.exe process(es) and then the computer runs fine until the process(es) launch again, usually with 5 minutes or less. No new software installed recently.
I have run up to date versions of MBAM and Spybot S&D with no problems detected. On-line research shows it's not an uncommon problem, but no one cause. I'll be most grateful if someone can assist me - thanks.
