Welcome to GTG ambrose <_<

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure. Please move Hijack This to a permanent folder (i.e. C:\HJT). This ensures backups are saved and accessible. I highly suggest you uninstall spyware doctor at it is a useless program. See the link in my signature. Please use Spybot and Ad-Aware for spyware removal.

Reboot in safe mode (by tapping F8 at startup and select safe mode from the menu). Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold:

C:\Program Files\WindUpdates\ <- Folder
C:\WINNT\system32\gjsbelpo.exe
C\Program Files\WildTangent\ <- Folder
C:\WINNT\2_0_1browserhelper2.dll

Next, please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer,SearchAssistant = http://search.microsoft.com/

If you do not want the quicktime tray icon, fix this one too:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

If you do not use MSN Messenger, do the same to:
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MsnMsgr] "C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\MsnMsgr.Exe" /background

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh, complete log, and let us know how your system's working. :)z

Wow, what a great help and an immediate answer to my issue as well. unbelievable. Okay, here's exactly what I did. I uninstalled spyware doctor. I set up my folder options to view hidden files and folders then booted to safe mode. I was able to find and delete C:\Program Files\WindUpdates\ but was unable to locate C:\WINNT\system32\gjsbelpo.exe
C\Program Files\WildTangent\
C:\WINNT\2_0_1browserhelper2.dll
I ran HJT and checked the boxes that you told me to. There was a few problems I ran into.
"O2 - BHO: (no name) - {83DE62E0-5805-11D8-9B25-00E04C60FAF2} - C:\WINNT\2_0_1browserhelper2.dll" was named "O2 - BHO: (no name) - {83DE62E0-5805-11D8-9B25-00E04C60FAF2}" I put an x in that anyway. Also, the following entries did not show up in my scan.
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WindUpdates] C:\Program Files\WindUpdates\WinUpdt.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [jccgqrvzsxk] C:\WINNT\system32\gjsbelpo.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WildTangent CDA] RUNDLL32.exe "C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\cdaEngine0400.dll",cdaEngineMain
So after all that I rebooted, ran HJT and here are my new results.

Congratulations! Your system is CLEAN <_<

How do you prevent spyware from being installed again? We strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster (it's free for personal use).

Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests.
Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox.
Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Consumes no system resources.

Download, run, check for updates, download updates, select all, protect against checked. All done. Check for updates every couple of weeks. If you have any errors running the program like a missing file see the link at the bottom of the javacool page.
Link to SpywareBlaster: http://www.geekstogo...tion=show&id=12

It's also very important to keep your system up to date to avoid unnecessary security risks. Click Here to make sure that you have the latest patches for Windows.

It's okay to delete the Hijack This folder in a couple weeks if everything is working okay. Also, make sure your Windows Firewall is turned on. To do this:

1. Go to "Start", then "Control Panel"
2. Click on "Network and Internet Connections", then "Network Connections" at the bottom
3. Right-click on your internet connection and choose "Properties"
4. Click the "Advanced" tab and make sure "Protect my computer..." is checked
5. Hit "OK" and you will now be protected from hackers

These next two steps are optional, but will provide the greatest protection.
1. Use ANY browser besides Internet Explorer, almost every exploit is crafted to take advantage of an IE weakness. We usually recommend Firefox.
2. Install Sun's Java. It's much more secure than Microsoft's Java Virtual Machine .

After doing all these, your system will be thoroughly protected from future threats. :D

Awesome! Thank you very much yet again. I have just one difficulty in your last suggestion for turning on the firewall within windows. I went to start menu>settings>control panels>network and dial up connections>Lan connection and could not find what i'm looking for. I am running windows 2000. Were your instructions for 2000? <_<

in your network places you will see internet connections, click that and look for your internet connection, right click that icon and hit properties, then go to advanced and make sure the internet firewall box is clicked
