I am trying to play a game cd called Heroes III, and when I tried to install it, it says I do not have current version of DirectX. So I went to the Microsoft website to down load, and it still does not work. I tried it on my older desktop computer with XP, and also with my Laptop with Windows 7.

My laptop is only a couple years old, so I thought it would not be very far out of date, but I got this error message:
Memory required 32MB, my system has 4 GB..failed
Directx version 7, my system has unknown version of Directx...failed.

I can understand my XP computer being slightly out of date, but how can I get the laptop to accept a newer version of Directx? I am completely confused with all this, because I don't store music or pictures on the laptop, so why isnt there enough memory to download this game?

Any help you can give me with this I would appreciate. thanks
