Remote Mouse not working

My mouse works fine locally, but when using logmein, the pointer is there but the mouse click has no effect. Similarly, the mouse click does not work when accessing a slingbox. OS is Windows 7, and the fault occurs with both Internet Explorer and with Google Chrome.
