I guess it is fine! The ProShow Gold slide show program I have from Photodex was the only thing I now have issues with. I tried to update that, but the newest version 5 of that program will not work with my older computer. Apparently it needs a newer graphics card than my XP has. I had to go back to the previous version of Proshow that works fine.

So unless you can tell me how I can get a graphics card up to speed with an older computer, I guess you have helped me all you can.

My desktop I have the pictures on is an HP with XPMedia center edition 2005. Has two Intel pentium processers, 300 GB, 2048 MB memory. (I am just reading off the label) It also says "Intel Graphics accelerator 950....whatever all this means..

Is this the system the program will not work on?
Hp Media Center but does it show you a make and model like Pavilion or Inspirion and a model number?

Yes, my Xp desktop computer is the one that the Proshow update will not work on without crashing.(the old version works fine) It is HP Pavilion a1560N model. Software build # 63NAemMPA 2. I looked under My computer and went to properties, it only tells me Pentium CPU 2806 Hz. 2.86 Hz, 1.99 GB of ram. I don't know where else to look for any more info for you.

OK good news. Your motherboard has the following expansion slots which one will except a newer video card.

This would mean you would have to open the system up to install a new video card so you can upgrade to the newer version of the software.

I'm sorry no the red lettering was just to highlight that you have the newer slot in your system to add a newer video card.

Ok great, I will have to check into that. I read where some cards have to have their own power source? What does that mean exactly? Do they plug in to a separate outlet? Any chance of damaging an older computer when you try to add newer parts to it?

As you can tell, I don't know much about computers! Thanks!

Some cards need a connector from the PSU and some use the power from the slot you plug it into on the motherboard.
No chance of damaging as long as you take a few precautions like discharging any static electricity in you before reaching inside the case. This is done simply by touching the outside of the case and continue holding it especially if you are on a carpet floor.
