Super Anti Spyware question

I downloaded this recently & found it too be excellent.Can this be used for protection to replace Avast or AVG ? Or is it just used to remove malware?

It will not replace an anti-virus program, but it is a good companion. No reason you can't run it along with your AV.

I figured that would be the answer.Just concerned about eating too much memory keeping them both.
