Computer as home theater

I am going to be building a computer to hook up to a flat screen TV to be used as a home theater, watching movies listening to music etc, was wondering if anyone had any advice on what would be the best components for going about this IE.what would be the best processor, mainboard, etc

This is my first time at building something for home theater so any advice would be greatly appreciated, any information you need please ask and i will do my best to answer for you
