Hi, I have a Dell Inspiron 1564. The other day shortly after I installed Windows 7 Updates, I rebooted my computer. The Dell screen comes up and then the computer screen goes black and stops responding. I don't know if it's a hardware issue or because of the Windows update. I'd like to not reinstall the OS if I don't have to because I don't want to lose my files. Help?

Is the Dell screen from the computer or from the monitor? It might be that the computer is not working at all and it is just the init screen from the monitor.
