I have a sony vaio laptop with vista. All last week the computer would shut itself off after awhile and go straight into the revovery options when restarted. So about five times I had to do the system restore which would work. Now it doesnt even let me do the restore. It says a problem installing windows everytime. I have no idea what to do.

Hi j522 ... ..:welcome:
did you create a recovery disk for your system...
if so boot from it and click on command prompt
at the prompt type chkdsk /r and press enter
this will take several hours...do not shut down while its running or you can cause more problems
it may apper to hang at a certain percent for a hour then move on...
it may also back up and over a area again...this is normal
