I've gotten my hands on an old computer that only takes DDR RAM. This is unfortunate, because I also have four spare 1GB sticks of DDR2 RAM. I've been thinking of trading the four 1GB DDR sticks for four 1GB DDR2 sticks. I figure there will be plenty of people willing to take advantage of this trade.
But I'm wondering: how does 1GB of DDR RAM compare to 1GB of DDR2 RAM? Is one gig of DDR2 RAM more effective than one gig of DDR RAM? Or does the advantage of DDR2 RAM come solely from the fact that you can get sticks bigger than 1GB?
Naturally, I can't choose between the two without switching motherboards. But I'm curious how the two types compare to each other on a level playing field. Wikipedia didn't seem to answer this specific question.
