Hi gang, I am hoping someone out there can help me out. I have now experienced 5 blue screens all with the same basic info. I will paste everything further below.

The crashes started happening right around the same time I was having issues with AVG not updating properly. AVG instructed me to uninstall and re-install AVG, which I did. After that, the blue screens increased.

The only other programs that i have installed around the time when the blue screens started include: Pandora Music Desktop App, An upgrade for Adobe Lightroom, A CCleaner update, a Soluto update, a Dropbox update, Dell Support Center update, Windows Live Essentials updates, and Adobe ReaderX and 9 updates. i don't know if the error is caused by a conflict wiht one of these programs. I have not installed any new hardware.

The crash seems to happen however soon after AVG auto updates definitions and such; although i can not be 100% positive this is when it is happening.

I will attach two files, a photo of the blue screen, and a .dmp file.

I am hoping someone has a workable solution other than reformatting and re installing W7.

In case this additional info helps, I have a Dell Studio XPS 9100. Bios A02. Windows 7 Ultimate SP1. DirectX Version 11. Intel i7CPU 930@2.80GHz. Cores 4. Thread 8. Hard Drive ST31500341AS (seagate). Memory Type DDR3-SDRAM (1333) Nanya Tech.

Thanks in advance!

Is is the free version of AVG?

Uninstall AVG for a day or two and tell me if any blue screen comes up during that time.

If you do decide to uninstall AVG here is the link to the removal tool.

You will need to install an Antivirus here is a couple of links.
http://www.avast.com/download-software

http://www.avira.com...-free-antivirus

You will not want to run a couple of days without an antivurus.

True for the most part. Sometimes it's just a bit tricky especially in a case like this, but good point nonetheless.

Thanks everyone for your input so far.

It is not the free version, but is the full AVG 2012 Internet Security package. I tend to not want to shut the entire AVG off for a few days, and would more likely just turn the auto updates off, since this is when the problem seems to have been happening.

I have the AVG uninstaller tool, and had thought about using Microsoft Security Essentials in the meantime.

I sent a complete log of events to AVG and they said they would look it over.

I also went to Dell's online chat assistance site. I was quite pleasantly surprised at how helpful they are, Normally I am unimpressed with Dell customer Service.

They looked over all the details and zeroed in on a piece of code that made them feel that it was the drivers for my network adapters that got corrupted. They could not say with certainty if it was AVG or a Windows update that caused it. They felt it was a 50/50 either way. So they just had me download two different drivers: R266204 and R290807, then uninstall the old ones and install the "new ones."

Things seem to be stable for now, but I will give it a few more days before I feel confident. I am also curious to what AVG will say.

i will update you in about a week and let you know if the drivers by themselves worked.

While it is good that the AVG staff have been very helpful with you, once your subscription with AVG is over, I would recommend you uninstall AVG and install either Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials (if you don't mind a free security product) or Kaspersky (if you insist on a paid one).

Whatever you choose to do (including whether or not you wish to continue using AVG), just make sure only one antivirus software is running on your system at a time. More than one and you may have far more troubles than just some blue screens.

AVG was actually not helpful, it was Dell that was helpful.

I am only using one antivirus program, but thanks for the helpful reminder.

i am going to close this discussion now, thanks for your input all!
