Hmm... I've used it before, but redownloaded it to be sure I had the newest version, but now I'm not allowed to run FSS... :( I get the message: "Windows could not get acces to the given unit, path or file. You might not have the necessary right to get acces to the element" (something like that... I have danish win., så I have to tranlate it). It's the same, when run as admin...

I'm not feeling quite finish yet... What about the FSS-run I should make, and I feel there are some loose ends about all those things I disabled during our hunt for the Windows Defender? And I don't think I got rid of Windows Defender, just disabled it...

windows defender is part of the operating system so you can't remove it...

are you having some kind of issue...
leaving those things unchecked only removes them from starting with windows...that frees up resources for programs you are actually going to use making your system faster...if anything we unchecked is needed, it will be launched by the OS if and when its necessary

The error I mentioned using FSS (I didn't have the right acces to that file or thing), I have for more files around the computer. Can't really find out what tricks it... Any I idea where it comes from? Could it be from the MS essentials I've installed?

I've found out myself (but a bit strange). I unchecked Online Armor from the start in MSConfig. But it was still blocking some files?! When I started the program it asked me about all those files that I couldn't use before, and when I said they were okay, I could run them again...
If I get tired of Windows Essentials, how do I uninstall it?

Do you mean Microsoft Security Essentials
It is in my opinion and many others an excelllent antivirus program.
Free, unobtrusive, regularly updated, uses few resources compared with some others.
I use it on three of my four computers, the fourth is Ubuntu only.

To unistall MSE follow this procedure.

Control Panel Programs and Features uninstall from there

In case of problems see this

That should do it then... It seems like everything is running (relative) smoothly. Thank you so much for your help and time...
