Yes I was just going to do that :)

I dropped off the laptop at a repair shop last week and just finally got a call back earlier today. They said that the connection between the motherboard and the network adapter has been damaged and unfortunately can't be fixed. However, they said, as did you, that a wireless USB network adapter can resolve the problem so I'm going to pick one up later tomorrow and see how I find it. If it's too much an annoyance I'll just have to buy a new laptop.

Thanks for all the help you gave me Macboatmaster! I really appreciate it thank you very much :)

Thanks for replying.

It is really appreciated and good luck with it

The usb wireless adaptors are realtively cheap these days and if the laptop is of some age, you may well get a better wireless service with one of the adaptors than you would with the inbuilt card.

If for instance the modem router is wireless N and the laptop card was only wireless g and you purchase a wireless N adaptor, it will be better.

I ended up buying with the same specs for around the same price ($30) and my laptop works just fine. I'll probably end up buying a new laptop around christmas when the laptops are priced cheaper seeing as it's annoying to keep the wireless network adapter plugged in all the time.

Thank you very much for all of your efforts Macboatmaster :)
