Thanks again for the screenshot
As the AVG is not on either the boot or recovery partition the AVG uninstaller tool should remove it if run on the D: partition with no problem but like I said I will get this confirmed for you and post back.

OK, thanks. I'll wait and see.

I wondered if I could just delete the AVG file, as it has never been installed.

Revo un-installer suggested as much didn't it, when it said "No installation Package Found! Tip: Get more information for the application from the main windows and try to uninstall it manually!"

Right, I'll give that a go.

I'll set a Restore Point and just delete the AVG file and its contents.
Then I'll restart the PC, and provided I get that far (joking), I'll carry on as normal.

IF I encounter a problem I can then either restore the AVG file from the Recycle Bin or Restore the PC to my Restore Point, but it's fairly unlikely to be a problem as AVG 9 was never installed on this PC and I use M.S.E. now anyway. I really can't see losing the file/folder making any difference.

Thanks for the support everyone - you're great!

Hopefully, that's it all done!
You guys are really appreciated. I don't know what I'd do without you.
With luck you won't hear from me again - until my next panic!

Just deleted the AVG folder in (D:) manually.
I've got the Restore Point I set, should I require it, and I'll leave the deleted folder in the Recycle Bin for a few days, so I can recover the folder from there too if I needed to.

Thanks for the follow up
You can guarantee that if you had not taken the precautions that you have it would have gone wrong.

Don't I know it!
I think I was Bill Gate's test pilot for Windows XP when it first came out.
I only had to glance at my PC sideways and it would crash.
Good job my favourite colour was Blue, as that was the main colour of my monitor a lot of the time.
