Has my ipod short circuited?

I dropped my 4th gen ipod touch in water yesterday. After I pulled it out, the screen lit up briefly. I attempted make it dry (I don't know if it dried completely). When I try to charge it, the screen lights up to show that it needs to charge from scratch, but it never progresses past that point. Is it possible that it short-circuited? If so, what should I do? Thanks in advance.

There is every chance that the ipod is damaged beyond repair already but applying power to it should be avoided at all cost as that will short it out.
Try leaving the ipod somewhere warm and allow it to dry out naturally, you can help the drying out along by using a hair dryer on a low setting around the ipod but not directed straight at it.
Good luck and let us know how it works out for you.

I put in rice and let it sit outside (living in the desert has its perks). I forced myself not to touch it for a few days and then plugged it into my laptop before taking it to get looked at...and it worked!!! That was on Wednesday and it's been working fine ever since :D. Thanks for your help! (posted from my iPod)
