Can somebody please help me? My sons computer was acting up, I think he has a virus. I messed around with it & it's in safe mode, but can't get it out of safe mode. It has a lot of issues. I want to reinstall xp, but I don't have the recovery cd for it. I do have the product key for xp tho. Also, I can't find the winnt32.exe file on the c: drive.

If you don't have a Windows CD for it, then you need to get one somehow. Otherwise, it's going to be very difficult helping you reinstall Windows without one.

Why not, for the time being, try the malware removal section and see if someone cold help you out with removing the viruses/malware?

Thanks for the reply. I don't even know if I need to reinstall xp, but I can't get it out of safe mode. Who knows what I did to it. I can't get any programs to open, not even internet explorer.

What do you mean you can't get out? Do you mean you can't shut down the system?

If so, and you need to turn it off, press and hold the Power button until it powers off.

Otherwise, just post a new topic about this in the malware removal section for the time being.
