Hello. I came home to find my computer had crashed. I had a black screen with a reference to using ctrl alt del to reboot. I tried several times but always went back to the same screen. After making several attempts to get it to boot I did an F9 recovery from the recovery partition. Once I was able to reboot I started getting error codes.

security processor system file mismatched error 04004d401 (validation)
Exception euib error in module sms system analyzer.exe 0004ed7a
Set up engine: endsystem requirements check failed error code 0x8000ffff
windows update failed to install error 641

There were also error codes whenever I tried loading zune software or installing windows updates.

Thanks for any help.

Hi 2nd Raider ... ..:welcome:

lets check the hard drive first then the ram if fixing the hard drive doesn't help...
HOW TO RUN CHKDSK /R ON WINDOWS 7

http://www.w7forums....-disk-t448.html

put a check in both boxes
automatically fix file system errors
scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors
then click on start...

you will receive a message asking if you wish to schedule a scan. Accepting this will perform the scan next time you restart your PC

click on y and press enter then reboot

Go to Start and type in eventvwr.msc...press Enter
Expand the Windows logs heading, then select Application log...
Double click on the Source column header.
Scroll down the list until you find the Chkdsk entry
wininit for Win7
winlogon for XP
Copy/paste the results into your next post...
lets test the RAM...
go here Guide to using Memtest86+...let it run for at least 3 hours or if you get even 1 error stop the test

I tried the troubleshooter a couple of times but with negative results. the first time it looked like it was working because it only had 1 update needed but then when I tried to install it all of the others came back as failed.

Disable any anti-virus application or firewall on the computer temporarily just prior installing the updates

Manually download the update files and then try installing them
Please pick the updates from the website of Microsoft Download Center...

Nothing seems tobe working. I ran the fixit again. it said data storage for update had changed and one or more update components had changed. I was able to install an optional update if that helps.
