A buddy of mine won this auction of several HP Compaq 8000 Elite ultra slim desk tops. He gave me one for helping out on several occasions. Any ways my problem is that the one I got doesnt go past a sign on screen requireing a admin log on and password, all the others work fine seems like when the company who sold them forgot to restore this one to its original settings. Ive takein it to several places to try and have it reset but everyone tells me its useless. What can I do to get this desktop reset? BTW its running windows 7 and has a intel core vpro inside if that helps, these desktops are suppose to be fast and really good i was told. If anyone can help the one who always helps everyone id greatly appreciate it

So you've taken it to computer tech places and they've also told you it's useless?

What sign-in do you mean exactly? The typical Windows one right before the desktop loads? Or is it before that?

Do keep in mind that due to the nature of the issue and online assistance, I don't think anyone's allowed to help you reset the password if they're not sure you're the owner.

But we can have you format the system and reinstall Windows on it if you have a CD for it or something. Or even a HP recovery CD specific for the system might do.

When I power it up it comes up with a log in screen from the company (HCA) that was auctioning off the the desk tops. I tried calling the company but the computer help desk couldnt help me since they where systems that got rid of. So they didnt have any of the system recovery disc due to them upgradeing all thier systems. Someone told me to try holding down a "F9" key while booting up and it might go to some partition where i might beable to recover from there but that didnt work.
