So I have used combofix with great success over the last few years but have noticed in the last 6 Months or so that I have been having a the same issue on many systems. I have one now that I really need to have combofix succeed. So what happens is combofix will run and get to the point where it should start showing ths scans. The final line is "Scanning for infected files....This typically........." It then just sits there and does nothing. I have tried it in safe mode and normal mode with the same reaction. Since I have had this issue on several systems I had hoped someone else would have posted and found a solution but I did not. Thanks

It's possible that the log file exists. Look in C:\combofix.txt, c:\combfix\combofix.txt, C:\qoobox\combofix.txt c:\Qoobox\Quarantine\Combofix(some number).txt

Combofix does not like bad file systems so trying running a disk check:
1. Double-click My Computer, and then right-click the hard disk that you want to check. C:
2. Click Properties, and then click Tools.
3. Under Error-checking, click Check Now. A dialog box that shows the Check disk options is displayed,
4. Check both boxes and then click Start.
You will receive the following message:
The disk check could not be performed because the disk check utility needs exclusive access to some Windows files on the disk. These files can be accessed by restarting Windows. Do you want to schedule the disk check to occur the next time you restart the computer?
Click Yes to schedule the disk check, then reboot.

Uninstall the anti-virus.
Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Uninstall SuperAntiSpyware, Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D.


Open a Command Prompt in XP:
Start, All Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt


Open an Elevated Command Prompt in Vista or Win 7:
Start, All Programs, Accessories, right click on Command Prompt and Run as Administrator, Continue.

Type:

msconfig

Select Diagnostic Boot, reboot

Go back into Command prompt:

"%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix.exe" /killall

(Make sure you put a space before the /killall)

If all else fails, run OTL and post in our Malware forum.
