How do I move programs to a different drive?

I just got this computer from a friend & when I look under My Computer it appears to have a D drive (with nothing on it) too.How do I move some of my installed programs to that drive? Are there any programs that I shouldnt move too?

You uninstall them from the C: drive and reinstall on the D: drive. Just moving them will not always work as and entries in the registry will still point to the C: drive.

so i cant just drag & drop my pics or my documents ?

Pics and documents are not programs so you can move then by copying or drag and drop. You need to hook the old drive to the new computer either directly or by a USB enclosure.
