I think there's something on my pc. I cannot open Malawarebytes go to antivirus websites or download windows updates. I can go to other sites just not anything antivirus related.

Windows also has updates but when I switch off and update they still don't go on.

I can scan malawarebytes in chameleon mode and nothing comes up at all. Affter reading online in many places I followed a guide and managedd to download combofix that actually seemed to work because I went online and did a test by going to an antivirus website. It opened the page straight away so I thought it was all fixed and swited off the pc in order for te windows updates to be put on. But when I switched the pc back on the sites were restricted again!!!! I tried again with combofix but it didn't work.

Please can someone help me. I am not good with computers, I need step by step guides. Thanks

I can get to sites like filehippo to download stuff but anyting with an antivirus title I cannot so I need to source things from other places if I need to download software to get rid of this

Hello and welcome to Geekstogo!

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help.
If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

Please include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Please refrain from running tools or applying updates other than those we suggest while we are cleaning up your computer. The reason for this is so we know what is going on with the machine at any time. Some programs can interfere with others and hamper the recovery process.

If you haven't done so yet, please go to Malware and Spyware Cleaning Guide and follow the steps instructed there. If you have already done this, we still need a new log to see what has changed since you originally posted your problem.

We need to create an OTL Report
Download OTL to your Desktop
  • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • Check the box that says Scan All Users.
  • Click the Quick Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
  • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
  • Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time and post them in your topic.

In the upper right hand corner of the topic you will see a button called Options. If you click on this in the drop-down menu you can choose Track this topic. I suggest you do this and select Immediate E-Mail notification and click on Proceed. This way you will be advised when we respond to your topic and facilitate the cleaning of your machine.

After 5 days if a topic is not replied to we assume it has been abandoned and it is closed.

Still have the problem.

Cannot access any antivirus webbsites
Cannot upddate Windows
Cannot update Miccrosoft Seccurity Essentials and that is now out of date
Get a pop up phishing box on barclays online banking website.
Computer running very slow
Cannot open Malawarebytes

We tried combofix. It seemed to work because we could then access antivirus websites but then 2 minutes later the problem was back. Tried Combofix again but no joy.

Ran Superantispyware. This turned up 16 Trojan agent gen nullo short. Sacn finished we clicked to remove these, rebooted as required. problem seemed fixed as again we could access antivirus websites. However went to update security essentials and it failed. Then checked antivirus websites and cannot get to them again.

Just tried to run OTL as requested and it has frozen. It came up saying list index out of bounds. Then I closed that box and now it's frozen on scanning chrome settings.

I am at a loss of what to do. Also when giving instructions please be aware I know nothing about computers so I need step by step guides if I have to do anything.

Thanks to anyone who can help.
