OK you only have one partition so that means we have a second copy of Windows installed. Now when you boot up which option do you pick to boot into? I think the partition 2 is the ghost entry so if you could try both options that will verify which one it is.

Ok so clicked the second one and it says:

Windows would not start because of a computer disc hardware configuration problem.
Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check both path and disk hardware.
Please check the windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional information.

OK great that answers our issue.
Now we need to go back to the boot.ini again and this time I want you to remove this line:


multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

Pay very close attention to the part I marked in red as the other is marked as partition(1) and you don't want to mess with that one.
Remember you have the original file so if something goes wrong we can fix it. I also have a copy so we are safe. Make sure once you delete the above line you save the boot.ini and then reboot. See if the dual boot option is now gone and the system boots up like it should.

I've deletted that line being sure itt's partitian 2. I checked like 3 times first lol. Just waiting for the windows sp3 to finish then will restart. Again thank you so much for yourr help. I am a typical girl and know nothing about all of this. I feel so much better knowing you're there helping me along

Should I be worried it never asked for the prduct key for windows? It's the copy that came with the computer
