I don't know where to post this because I do not know if I have malware or a virus or if its something wrong with my computer and i've tried many computer help websites but none have really fixed the problem. I have windows 7 and my computer only runs slow when I am using the internet. And yes the internet runs slow but my overall computer performance is slow when I'm using the internet. It usually starts to run slow when I am playing games or watching videos.When I watch videos anywhere for example on netflix or youtube the picture starts to slow down and run alot slower than the audio. I usually use google chrome but it happens with firefox and IE too. I have made sure everything is updated and I do not have any add-ons that I know about except for WOT. I ran the malwarebytes anti-malware scan and it hasn't found anything, I also use spyware blaster. I am thinking maybe the spyware blaster is slowing it down because it offers protection for all three of the internet browsers I use? Thanks for your help.

It is a windows 7 home premium acer laptop the model is Aspire 5740. Installed physical memory is 4.00 GB and total physical memory is 3.68. Total hard drive capacity is 285 GB and free space is 232 GB. So far I have deleted the whitesmoke toolbar it was installed on firefox, and i ran the OTL scan ill attach it. I have downloaded and used CCleaner and I have also used the windows defragmenter.

What was Ccleaner used for?
It is still not clear if the internet itself is causing this issue or something with the system. I am going to start with the system first and see if that helps.

Download TFC by OldTimer to your desktop

• Please double-click TFC.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
• It will close all programs when run, so make sure you have saved all your work before you begin.
• Click the Start button to begin the process. Depending on how often you clean temp files, execution time should be anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two. Let it run uninterrupted to completion.
• Once it's finished it should reboot your machine. If it does not, please manually reboot the machine yourself to ensure a complete clean.

As for TFC, this is a tidbit of an article I found a while back by a MicroSoft MVP.

TFC (Temp File Cleaner) will clear out all temp folders for all user accounts (temp, IE temp, java, FF, Opera, Chrome, Safari), including Administrator, All Users, LocalService, NetworkService, and any other accounts in the user folder. It also cleans out the %systemroot%\temp folder and checks for .tmp files in the %systemdrive% root folder, %systemroot%, and the system32 folder (both 32bit and 64bit on 64bit OSs). It shows the amount removed for each location found (in bytes) and the total removed (in MB).

Before running, it will stop Explorer and all other running applications. When finished, if a reboot is required the user must reboot to finish clearing any in-use temp files.
-- TFC only cleans temp folders.
-- TFC will not clean URL history, prefetch, or cookies. Depending on how often someone cleans their temp folders, their system hardware, and how many accounts are present, it can take anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or more. TFC will completely clear all temp files where other temp file cleaners may fail.

CCleaner removes unwanted files and also is a registry cleaner. I wasn't sure if the TFC was working at first, it was only taking about about 3 seconds to finish and would disappear, so I just rebooted my computer afterwards.

I hope you are not using the registry cleaner.
A registry cleaner will not increase your system's speed or performance, and has the potential to break your registry to the point that your PC is no longer bootable.
We strongly advise that people stay away from any of the registry cleaners out there.

Just a note: Before attempting to clean or fix any registry you should always make a backup of it first just in case something goes wrong.

I have used the registry cleaner once but it didn't seem to do any harm, and it let me create a restore point before I used it. My computer was acting up before I used it, but I won't use it again. Something that I notice now is that my computer definitely only slows down when I am playing games or watching videos and becomes very hot and I've had it overheat and shut it self off without warning twice. So i'm not sure if its actually the internet anymore, its just videos and games that makes my computer slow.

OK then I need to see some comparison readings. One with no games being played and one during game play. To do this you need to do the following.

Download Speedfan (The download link is to the right), and install it. Once it's installed, run the program and post here the information it shows.
The information I want you to post is the stuff that is circled in the example picture I have attached.
To make sure we are getting all the correct information it would help us if you were to attach a screenshot like the one below of your Speedfan results.

To do a screenshot please have click on your Print Screen on your keyboard.

• It is normally the key above your number pad between the F12 key and the Scroll Lock key
• Now go to Start and then to All Programs
• Scroll to Accessories and then click on Paint
• In the Empty White Area click and hold the CTRL key and then click the V
• Go to the File option at the top and click on Save as
• Save as file type JPEG and save it to your Desktop
• Attach it to your next reply

Yeah you have a serious overheating issue.
Have you checked the vents to make sure they are clear of dust?
Where is the laptop normally sitting when you use it?
Are there animals in the house?
Does anyone in the house smoke?

I have not checked the vents, I don't know how, but no one in my house smokes and we do not have any animals, I usually use the laptop on the couch and bed.

Just turn the laptop over and you should see the vents there and maybe on the sides. Using the laptop on a surface like you are impedes air flow. Try it on a hard surface like a table or desk. If that is not feasible for you then you may consider purchasing a laptop cooling pad.
