There is a similar problem running parallel to this one so I am seeing what they did - although they have not yet resolved the problem either...

Lets reset the netbt registry entry

Download the attached zip file, extract the registry file and merge with the registry
[attachment=58258:netbt.zip]
Reboot and let me know if that has worked

Then lets check out the net connection areas next

Please download MiniToolBox, save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following checkboxes:
  • Flush DNS
  • Report IE Proxy Settings
  • Reset IE Proxy Settings
  • Report FF Proxy Settings
  • Reset FF Proxy Settings
  • List content of Hosts
  • List IP configuration
  • List Winsock Entries
  • List last 10 Event Viewer log
  • List Installed Programs
  • List Devices
  • List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
  • List Minidump Files
Click Go and post the result (Result.txt). A copy of Result.txt will be saved in the same directory the tool is run.

Note: When using "Reset FF Proxy Settings" option Firefox should be closed.

OK it looks like an AFD error

Could you do the following

1.Start Device Manager.
2.Click View, and then click Show hidden devices.
3.In the right pane of Device Manager, click Non-Plug and Play Drivers.
4.Double-click AFD Networking Support Environment.
5.Under Device usage, select the Use this device (enable) check box, and then click OK.

OK I have just revisited one of the logs and it appears that at some stage you haved used an old version of TDSSKiller, this changes the registry path for afd.sys

So here is a correct registry path
Same story, download, unzip and merge

[attachment=58259:afd.zip]

Edit : This is in addition to the previous step

I am a legend in my own lunchtime

What was the cure ? The new AFD reg or starting AFD in the device manager ?

Any further problems before I tidy up ?

You are a legend to many who have seen your work. Not sure about the exact cure, I looked in device manager, as you said and there was a yellow exclamation next to AFD Networking Support Environment, the box ' Use this device (enable)' was already showing that, so I assume it was the AFD reg fix.
I cannot see any further problems. Thanks a million

That sounds as though it was the registry fix that cured it..

Subject to no further problems :)

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

A good workman always cleans up after himself so..The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:
For the Farbar tools just delete them from the desktop

Run OTL
  • Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following

    :Commands
    [resethosts]
    [emptytemp]
    [CLEARALLRESTOREPOINTS]
    [Reboot]

  • Then click the Run Fix button at the top
  • Let the program run unhindered, reboot the PC when it is done

Run OTL and hit the cleanup button. It will remove all the programmes we have used plus itself.

We will now confirm that your hidden files are set to that, as some of the tools I use will change that
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View Tab.
  • Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Do not show hidden files and folders.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.

Posted Image Your Java is out of date.

Ok Martin I will follow those instructions. I will run the machine for 24 hours and see how it goes. I will post back tomorrow or PM you. Once again thanks so very much. Like I said its not my computer, I will make sure the owner knows he owes you a great debt of gratitude. Hopefully he will donate, for all the hard work you all put in on this forum.
Take care and thank you very much
