Before you read, I only know him thru an online "club", so I have no idea what is up with his computer. As you know, he has AOL 7.0, and I asked him why he said he can't goto websites, and he replied that when he clicks a link, or tries to go on one, it doesn't load. So I have no idea how to give him a link to SpyBot, an Antivirus program, or anything similar, to helping his computer. Is there any way I can help him out?

send him the link to this topic- or click on one of the links and send him that link- we recommend sending him the topic link so maybe we can talk directly with him and get some more information on his computer <_<

Let's start with a free program. Ad-aware.

Using Ad-aware: Open Ad-Aware and use the Check for updates now link. Download and accept the latest reference file. When finished click the Start button. When done scanning, the Abort button will change to Next. Click the Next button. Right-click in the Scanning Results window and click "Select all objects". Then click the "Next" button and confirm that you want to delete the selected entries.

When finished, Reboot your computer.

I tried giving him the link to Adaware, Spybot, and this website/forum, but whenever he clicks on the link, nothing appears.

If he can use another computer to download Hijack This, it will fit on a floppy disk. He can install it from the floppy, and then save the log back to the floppy drive, and reply with the log here.

I'm guessing with AOL 7.0 he probably has Windows 98. If so, this fix would be worth a shot: http://www.geekstogo...=download&id=21 It will also fit on a floppy disk. <_<

P.S. If it's XP, use this link instead: http://www.geekstogo...n=download&id=7
