Vaio Sony laptop reboots @ connect WebUpdate

I have the latest core application, 1.06r1 Personal with 31.05.2005 reference file installed. The previous version was uninstalled and any traces left were scanned with
RegCleaner. Everytime I try to update ref files I get a quick don't blink blue screen with
a page full of info I can't read or copy fast enough. When the XP home SP2 reboots automatically I get this message:

I am able to update ref files when I am connected to a dialup but not wireless...
I uninstalled 1.06r1 and tried again to run webudate without any luck...
