I have a dell mini inspiron which is unacceptably slow and also very hot all the time.
Even when I only have IE browser running, it takes a while to switch between 2 tabs. Same for scrolling up and down the page.
Quite often I have to kill the process thru task manager under "Process". Ending the process under application tab takes about the same time as closing the browser.
I use Microsoft security essential and antivirus and Malware byte for malware and ad-ware. No virues or malware detected.
I also run the temp clean from old timer and use auslogics defragmenter frequently.
Below is my system information. All your help is greatly appreciated.

It is way faster than before especially firefox. But IE still takes some time to load (set google as default home page) and when scrolling up & down it takes a little while to respond but firefox went very smooth when browsing the same web page. Should I upgrade it to IE 8?

I follow all the instructions and remove all except the followings:

(1) Google Toolbar for Firefox (Version: 7.1.20100701). it was disabled in firefox under tool\add on\extension and does not have option to remove, can not uninstall.

(2) "PPS影音 V2.7.0.1481 正式版 (Version: 2.7.0.1481)". I did not uninstall. This is the application use to watch online movie. If this is the cause please let me know i will uninstall it.

Here is the URL link Snapshot link

1156 files defragmented.

The first thing that I would like you to do is delete all of your restore points and create a new one.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948247

I am not sure that you even have any restore points becasue from your FSS log it showed that system restore was disabled if it still is then enable and create a restore point and continue below.Just makes sense to have system resore enabled on your machine.

I would not upgrade to internet explorer 8 (may cause issues)I would just not use internet Explorer to tell you the truth you should just delete the icon from your desktop and only use it to run microsoft updates that is what I do. :)

Reset Internet Explorer to Default and delete the icon from your desktop.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737

Also I see that you have Malwarebytes installed update it and do a quick scan with it once a week.Another tool to have that compliments Malwarebytes is SuperAntiSpyware do the same with it updated weekly scans I am Not Asking you to post any logs here This is just so that you keep your machine running in top condition and so that you will hopefully not have to come back here ever again with issues with slowness.Because the main goal when I am helping people here is to hopefully teach people how to use and enjoy there machines.
http://www.superanti...ANTISPYWAREFREE

Also I am going to show you how to set Ccleaner to run everytime you start your computer so that temp files are deleted everytime you start your machine.See screen shots below, and make sure your settings are the same.

Ccleaner1.JPG ccleaner2.JPG ccleaner3.JPG

Also to have a back-up you might consider google Chrome.
https://www.google.c...chrome/browser/

Also your temps look slightly high nothing to get in a twist about do you use a laptop cooling pad and have you ever cleared the dust from your machine? If not then please see this video.

Also lets update your wireless driver.
Please download DriverMax http://www.innovativ....com/drivermax/ Just make sure to un-check the boxes that are highlighted in the shot below.

drivermax warning.JPG

You will need to register drivermax with your email and you get two free drivers per day.I suggest that you update your wireless driver and your chipset driver today.Only make sure to disable drivermax from your startup with Ccleaner, after you have used it because there is no need in having it startup with your machine.

I would also suggest that you uninstall Microsoft Security Essentials I may be crazy but I think that this is bad software. Why when someone is in the business of selling computers would they want to provide a free service that keeps you protected? I look at it like a used car salesman selling motor oil kinda like if you went to Autozone and had a choice between "Bobs motor oil" Or "Mobil One"

I suggest that you replace it with Avast or Avira

http://www.avast.com...ST&locale=en-ww

http://www.avira.com...-free-antivirus

(2) "PPS影音 V2.7.0.1481 正式版 (Version: 2.7.0.1481)". I did not uninstall. This is the application use to watch online movie. If this is the cause please let me know i will uninstall it.

I have never heard of the above program but the choice is your whether to keep it or not.

If you scroll down the list even farther there should be some entries with a green check mark. See if any of those are the smbus or motherboard chipset driver. If so then as Rockmilk has stated the driver is already the most recent.

The ones with green check marks are for webcam, mouse, and the network adaptor.
I updated wireless and high definition audio drivers.
I have a question....
Recently, the application (ppstream)that I use to watch online video alone uses 70 to 90% CPU all the time when the application is in used. When the application is closed, the high CPU usage also goes down. I scan that with Avast and malwarebyte and no thread found. Used to take very low CPU usage - less than 10%. Uninstall and reinstall but still the same. Is there any way to find out what caused this high cpu usage?

Thanks!

Same CPU usage when Avast is enabled or disabled.
However, I installed the new version of the application and now the CPU usage by this application is down to 20 ~50%.
