I have an older computer that has a retail version of windows 7 Ultimate on it. This computer recently had a major hard drive crash and I will need to reinstall Windows. I also have bought parts to build a new system and purchased a retail copy of Windows 7 Professional. My question is this. I would like to install the Ultimate version that was on my old system onto my new one and install the Professional onto the old one for my son to use. What steps do I take to deactivate the Ultimate version from my old system?

None needed. Just activate. If it fails follow the steps for Phone Registration and you should be all set.
