Ethernet plugged in & nothing happens

I just got yet another desktop from a friend & when I plug the ethernet cable in for my comcast modem nothing happens.Not even the PC Connect light blinks on my modem.How do I fix this?
My sys info says this is a Gateway T5020 but my friend builds computers so Im not sure thats what this computer is

could be a number of things

could be modem connect not allowed from comcast (If you PC is working in LAN connection try switching cables to other PC)

could be cat 5/6 cable you are using might have bad end

could be the modem/ethernet card on the system change card?

im pretty sure its the last one.I checked the cord on another computer & the modem & cord are fine.
