I WOULD MUCH APPRECIATE ANY HELP

FIRST LET ME START BY SAYING THAT I AM NOT A COMPUTER GEEK SO PLEASE BEAR WITH ME.

I HAVE A HP PAVILION DV5-1004NR, WINDOWS VISTA. WELL A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO IT SUDDENLY WOULD NOT LOG ON IN NORMAL MODE (CIRCLE JUST CONTINUALLY SPINS) I CAN LOG ON IN SAFE MODE W/NETWORKING. MY SON TRIED A COUPLE OF THINGS (CCLEANER, AVG SCAN, SYSTEM RESTORE,SYSTEM FILE CHECKER WHICH REPORTED SOMETHING ABOUT CBS. LOG WINDIR\LOGS\CBS\CBS.LOG. AND SOME OTHER THINGS THAT I CAN'T RECALL) I NOTICED THAT SOME OF THE WINDOWS PROGRAMS WON'T OPEN (WINDOWS UPDATE, WINDOWS DEFENDER) I'VE ALSO NOTICED SOME MESSAGES (JAVASCRIPT VOID(0),
ERROR CODE 0x8007043c)I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT ANY OF THIS MEANS AND WHAT I SHOULD DO.
